Fantasy - ZineJam

Part of the AET ZineJam 2022

Based on this year’s theme of genre, our group was given the genre of fantasy. We went with designing and illustrating fantasy characters. I chose to create a character in a futuristic fantasy setting and another character with winged elements and a small, glowing flying creature as a companion. We were given about 3 days to work on 2 pieces and the entire zine was presented to show everyone's work.

Drawn with Clip Studio Paint

My two fantasy pieces I drew over 04/16/22 - 04/18/22

A simple graphic I drew for our group, "Team 5", that included another artist and myself. The four characters are the ones my partner and I drew for our section of the zine.

Sketch for the first piece; given a slight top-down angle, I drew the floor and buildings with one-point perspective and positioned CSP's default model to get the angle I wanted for the person, since I had difficulties drawing the knees/legs in the right place.

Second progress shot, where I finished the line-art, and blocked in solid colors with light shading.

Finished first piece: Completed subject shading, adding in secondary colors from the background and foreground into highlights on the hair, jacket, and pants as they are more reflective. Also added in brighter glass to the buildings and fog/smoke in the front to add to the fantasy aspect.

Sketch of the second piece; mostly consistent with the final iteration. I chose shades of white, blue-greys, and blues for most of the piece, and yellow/gold for the creature as a complimentary color for contrast

Second piece; on the mythical side of fantasy, with winged elements to the character, who also has a magical companion with them.
